See the new Electric Arc Furnace!

Electric arc furnace

Following the UK Government’s £500 million Grant Funding Agreement in support of Tata Steel UK’s £1.25 billion transition to green steelmaking, the company has released brand new virtual reality footage and artist impressions of the proposed Electric Arc Furnace at its Port Talbot site.

Additionally, this week, the company published its plans as part of the required formal Pre-Application Consultation, which include detailed drawings and maps of the site showing the  changes being proposed.

Tata Steel UK has posted a ‘fly through’ video on its YouTube channel, showing the location of the new arc furnace inside the existing steel plant, which fades into a short virtual reality film of the arc furnace as it would operate.

There is also an artist’s impression of the building extension to the Port Talbot steel plant, which will incorporate a scrap loading and conveyor system as well as integrated energy recirculation and fume extraction facilities.

More information about the planning process is available on the Green Steel Future website
